Our Technologies

There has been much advancement in dentistry over the past twenty years; Mountain View Family Dentistry keeps abreast of all new technology in the dental field. In addition to the care, skill, and knowledge needed to produce world-class dentistry, having the latest in technological tools is a necessity.  These new technologies allow us to detect dental concerns at early stages, treat your dental issues with precision and provide stunning and customized restorations. It is our commitment to provide the latest in technological advancements for our patients.  When you visit our office you can be confident that you are receiving the finest and most advanced in dental care.

 Digital Radiography

X-rays are a focused beam of x-ray particles passed through bone which produce an image on special film, showing the structure through which it passed.  This provides the familiar black and white images doctors and dentists use to diagnose problems and disease.  Without an x-ray of the whole tooth and supporting bone and gum tissues, there would be no way to detect infection or pathology that requires attention.

In our office we use digital radiography which allows us to take x-rays using up to 90% less radiation than conventional film x-rays.  Using this technology, we are able to take an x-ray of your mouth by using a small sensor which records the image of your teeth and sends it to a computer.  The result is a highly detailed image of your mouth that can easily be enhanced to better diagnose dental concerns and determine the very best treatment for each case.

 Laser Dentistry
Waterlase MD/Biolase
No Shot - No Drill - No Pain - No Kidding

Use of laser technology has helped the dentist in providing treatment with less postoperative pain and increased healing. Patients are amazed on how fast, easy and pain-free the laser procedure was performed. For certain small cavities, waterlase can mean NO needles and NO drills. A high-powered stream of water and laser cleans decay from small cavities on the chewing surfaces of back teeth, allowing a white filling to be bonded in place. Because no drilling is involved, it is  pain-free than other methods of restoring a decayed tooth, reduces or eliminates the need for anesthesia, and leaves more healthy tooth structure intact.

 Intraoral Camera

This advanced technology zoom in on small diseased areas, cracks, chips and worn metal fillings with extreme precision. The full-color images taken with the intraoral camera are sent to the computer screen so it can be clearly see and diagnose dental problems much easier than with traditional dental technology.  Because images are displayed on the computer monitor, patients will also be able to see areas being worked on and area able to gain a better understanding of dental procedures being performed.

 Digital Imaging

Digital imaging software is beneficial for patients who are considering cosmetic procedures but are not sure if they’re ready for the dramatic changes.  It takes a digital picture of the patient and use the imaging software to predict how a particular treatment or cosmetic procedure would change the appearance of the patient’s teeth. It also documents dental cases and procedures very well.  It takes digital images of the face, teeth and smile to provide permanent record and visual documentation of treatment.

 DIAGNOdent

This small portable laser tool detects cavities on the chewing surface of the back teeth that would have otherwise gone undetected by previous methods.  Diagnosing cavities in the back of the mouth using traditional methods is difficult.  Studies even show 50% of the cavities are left undetected in these areas. However, the new DIAGNOdent enables dentists to locate and treat these cavities, putting a stop to further decay. The laser is easy to use, harmless and will alert user with an audible signal if it detecs a cavity.  It even calculates the approximate size of the cavity to better plan the treatment.  By using this device, patient can rest assured that cavities will be accurately detected and treated in their infancy.
